July 4th Parade in Gatlinburg
July 4th, 2011
The SCTP made its inaugural entrance in the Gatlinburg July 4th Midnight Parade, attended by an estimated 100,000 people. The SCTP float was manned by Sevier County home school students dressed as founding fathers (and mothers) and reading quotes from the founders in between patriotic music played through the float's sound system. As we marched along the parade route, there were many that stood and applauded, sometimes entire sections of people did a standing ovation as we passed by. Although our float was not the biggest or the loudest, the Tea Party was very well received in the parade. It was a great night to be a patriot!

This was a very successful workshop, with over 50 in attendance. Presenters covered topics on food, water, finances, personal protection; and much more. There have been requests to do additional seminars of this type. Plans are underway to do just that. Watch our website for further details as they become available....
UPDATE - we held a second Preparedness Seminar on June 9th again at the Thompson Carr meeting room in Sevierville. It was well attended and many said it was very informative.
Our first Local Candidate Forum was held
April 21st, 6:30 p.m.
Sevierville Civic Center, 200 Gary Wade Blvd, Sevierville
Candidates for office from Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg were all invited to attend a moderated forum with questions provided by our Tea Party members. We had a good turnout of Tea Party members, with 4 candidates from Sevierville, two from Pigeon Forge (out of 4) and none from Gatlinburg. Kevin Childs, our Elections & Candidates Team Chair, moderated the forum, with questions from the membership following. We are very appreciative of those candidates that made the effort to address their Tea Party constituents.
